Uses of "I'm getting" in English

When you combine the words "I'm" and "getting" you are telling someone that you have a right to possess, be influenced, or have plans to search for something. 

Here are some examples:

  1. Do you see the point I'm getting at?
  2. Don't split hairs. You know what I'm getting at.
  3. Everyday and in every way I'm getting better.
  4. I can hardly exist on the wage I'm getting; there is no money for luxuries.
  5. I think I'm getting a cold or flu - I've been coughing and sneezing all day.

  7. I'm getting a bit brassed off with his attitude.
  8. I'm getting a bit long in the tooth for this sort of thing.
