I'll give you some tips to help you learn new words and phrases while watching, from repeating phrases to watching with (and without) subtitles. But you can rest assured that you will enjoy watching movies at the same time. 

You may still be wondering if you can really learn English using movies.


Why learn English through films?


After all, watching movies is supposed to be fun, right? So, how can you learn while having so much fun with the movie? More importantly, why should you learn English with movies instead of textbooks? 

Here are three reasons I think it works, and why I recommend learning the language this way:

  • You will hear how things are said in English. 
  • You will Improve your English listening skills.
  • You will Improve your pronunciation.

Tips to really learn English through movies: 

  • Choose an interesting movie.
  • Select a movie that matches your current level of English.
  • Bring your own dictionary, Use a notebook and dictionary to help you with new words and phrases.
  • Repeat the short phrases!
  • Watching with and without subtitles.
  • Use a flexible video player or watch live on YouTube.
  • Learn how to learn best when you watch and listen hard.
  • It's okay to miss words, just leave them and watch the movie over and over.
