What’s new in Windows 11?
Microsoft Store
Microsoft Store This is the bulk of the update that provides more economic opportunity for developers and creators.
Desktop apps still haven't made it to the Store the same way Microsoft would have liked it to.
With Windows 11, there are some big changes. Developers will be able to submit their apps without packaging them, and they can also host them on their own content delivery network, which means they won't actually have to be distributed by Microsoft, just through the Microsoft Store front.
Microsoft just wants to create a better store.
They add groups to help you find more apps, and there's a "pop-up store" that manages installs when you try to install apps that come from the web.
The latest in PC gaming performance
Play the latest games with graphics that rival reality, with players on console and Play with the peripherals that you love.
Windows 11 has a host of gaming improvements. One is Auto HDR, a feature first included on Xbox Series X consoles | S, and now it's coming to Windows.
Finally, Xbox Cloud games will be integrated. It'll be part of the Xbox app on Windows 11.
It also automatically adds HDR to your old games.
Microsoft Edge
The browser that puts you first on work, play, shop, stream, connect and whatever you set out to do, Microsoft Edge on Windows 11 helps you do it with speed and security.
Microsoft Teams
Life is better with Chat from Microsoft Teams, you can reach anyone however you prefer (call, chat, text, video) right from your desktop.
Now you'll find Teams Chat right in the taskbar, so you can talk to friends easily. It will also work for SMS, just in case those friends haven't downloaded Teams yet.
The company referred to it specifically as "two-way SMS," so don't expect MMS group texts to work.
There is also a mute/un-mute button that will appear in the taskbar, along with an option to start presenting.
Android apps & Amazon app store
Support for Android apps is the feature that was announced and that did not make it into the product at launch.
Developers can use their own trading platforms. This means that your app can use the platform that earns you the most money, and your app can remain in the store.
It includes other app stores too. One such example is Amazon App-store, which offers Android applications. But the Epic Games Store is also in the Microsoft Store right now.
Microsoft partnered with Amazon to bring the Amazon App-store to the Microsoft Store.
The company stated that Amazon was the company they partnered with, but the App Store isn't the only place you'll be able to get Android apps from.
Microsoft said it wanted to be able to run all Android apps someday, including those that require Google services.
But it's just a goal to support all Android applications, not commit.
As now with Windows Insiders who can test the feature, there are only a select group of Amazon App-store applications available. Microsoft plans to open up to more.
Large visual inspection with rounded corners
Windows 11 is visually different from Windows 10. Although Windows 10 has made some minor design changes over the years, it hasn't acquired a whole new look, like the kind of new look we typically get from a new version of Windows.
There is a brand new starting menu, in the middle and the floating menu, and the taskbar in the middle as well.
There are also colored icons all over the operating system, device manager, and just about everywhere else.
But it's not simply about looking new. The way you interact with the user interaction will also be different and cool.
Windows 11 will support more swipe gestures and so on, but more importantly, it should be more consistent with what occurs when you click something.
Touch gestures are the same as when using the accuracy touchpad. This method, you'll be using the gestures you already know.
Updated calculator app & Clock
Microsoft is making some updates that seem very simple but some have a different view in describing such things as great as the inbox apps to include Windows 11 visuals.
That means it adds a whole bunch of rounded corners to things like a calculator.
Also the graphing calculator in Windows 11 includes things like programmer mode, charting mode, and support for more than 100 units and currencies.
Microsoft is introducing a new feature called Focus Meetings with the Clock app in Windows 11. It's pretty neat. They're essentially scheduled sessions to help you stay focused on a certain task for a certain period of time.
Windows 11 on ARM gets improvements
As you know, Windows 10 devices with ARM processors have suffered from a lack of applications, since they only support 32-bit emulation.
Today with Windows 11 these devices will finally get support for 64-bit application emulation. This is something that we have been testing with Insiders for a while.
Another thing that recently shipped is Hyper-V for Windows on ARM.
