Difference between 'then' and 'than'

1. Uses of "then"

A: We use "then" sometime in the past or future, for example:

  • They have not visited her friends since then.

B: It means "after that", for example:

  • First I get up, then I have breakfast.

C: Used when giving additional information, for example:

  • He had a cup of coffee, and then two glasses of milk.

D: Used when giving a logical result, for example:

  • If you fail that test, then you'll be suspended.
 

 2. Use of than

Than is used in comparison between two things, for example:

  •  The yellow car is faster than the black one.
  •  He was much smaller than his son.
